Gender Launch In India
Zimmer launched NexGen Gender SolutionsTM Knee in India in Apr’07. India was one of the first few countries in the world where Zimmer made this product available for its valued customers even as it prepared for its introduction in other countries.
In accordance with our core belief valuing our association with orthopaedic surgeons and our ability to serve patients by placing confidence in surgeons’s hands with our world class products and services, the nationwide launch program was kicked-off in partnership with some key surgeons. The short Scientific Meeting at Delhi on 22 Apr’07 at Hotel Grand was attended by more than 100 surgeons especially from North India. Internationally acclaimed orthopaedic surgeon, Dr Kelly Vince of University of Southern California, USA and Dr Ashok Rajgopal, one of the leading orthopaedic surgeons of India, presented to the audience the design rationale for the implant as well as their experience of implanting them on their patients.
On 24 Apr’07, some prominent surgeons of Chennai and other South Indian cities attended a live surgical demonstration of implanting this implant at VijayaHospital, Chennai. The demonstration was spear-headed by Dr Kelly Vince and Dr C Rajshekhar Reddy and Dr Govardhan from Chennai.
Similar short Scientific Meetings like the one at Delhi were organized at Pune (26 Apr’07) and Mumbai (28 Apr’07) too. Dr Kelly Vince and Dr Hemant Wakankar, one of the leading orthopaedic surgeons of West India, conducted the program at Pune while Dr Kelly Vince and Dr Ashok Rajgopal conducted the Mumbai meeting.
Apart from the above, Dr Kelly Vince was one of the keynote speakers in the 1 st Annual Conference of the Indian Society of Hip & Knee Surgeons (ISHKS) where he highlighted the specific role that he expected gender specific implants like Zimmer Gender SolutionsTM Knee to play in the near future.
Altogether, more than 500 surgeons attended the launch programs and the ISHKS meeting. These events generated tremendous enthusiasm and desire for usage among the orthopaedic surgeons community including those who have traditionally not been known to use Zimmer products on a regular basis.
